Purevision TT Camaro Wins Big at SEMA 2013

Steve Strope and his team from Purevision Designs unveiled their 1972 TT Camaro at the 2013 SEMA show.  You may have seen this piece of art in the HRE booth.

This is a very cool machine... tons of carbon fiber, elegant paint, great wheels and a twin-turbo engine putting out more than 1,300 horsepower.

Here's a quick video of Steve hitting the highlights of the car.

This car is wired with a full ISIS Power system.  They're using a 3-Cell Kit with inLINK and inMOTION.  Additionally, they have our inTOUCH MAX screen in the dash to control all of the vehicle functions including the Vintage Air through our inVIRONMENT interface.

When you see the car in person, you'll understand why everyone loves it.  Purevision's TT Camaro won the coveted 2013 SEMA Design Award for Best GM Vehicle.

They also won the Mother's Choice Award for Excellence in Automotive Design.

Congratulations to Steve and the entire team at Purevision Designs for receiving these accolades.  The entire ISIS Power team is proud to be a part of the TT Camaro.

Great ICON 4X4 Coverage on FOX

One of our favorite vehicles wired with our ISIS Power system at the 2013 SEMA show was the new TR from ICON 4X4.  It was highlighted in the new vehicle technology showcase at the show.

There are lot of things that bring new technology to ICON's new TR.  It is using a new Art Morrison Chassis, the body and paint are using the newest technologies, the suspension is state of the art and it is motivated using an LS engine.  Most significantly is what you don't see in the truck.  The ICON team wired the truck using our ISIS Power 3-Cell Kit, inLINK, inMOTION, inRESERVE and inTOUCH NET.  They get the simplicity of our multiplexed architecture with all of the electrical technologies found in all new OEM vehicles.  Our new inTOUCH NET lets them control the entire truck from any smart device or the Kenwood head unit mounted in the dash.

This link to the ICON website lets you take a virtual tour of the truck to see the ISIS technology available.  You can see this by clicking here.

Fox News did a great piece on the show and the TR.  The video features Jonathan Ward of ICON 4X4 talking about the truck and what makes it special.   You can see the video by clicking on this link

More Shameless Coverage...

Maurie & his wife Lynne have put some great miles on their 1967 C10 show truck called "Shameless".  They have been working the show circuit for the past year and have been cleaning up the awards.  You can see tons of past posts on our blog about the trophies that they have won.

They wired this truck with our 3-Cell Kit, inMOTION, inLINK and inTOUCH MAX touch screen.  As custom as this truck is, there was no stock replacement wiring harness that could do what Maurie had envisioned.  That's where our team at ISIS Power came in.

Our ISIS Power system let Maurie wire and control Shameless in the way that he wanted.  He got a simple installation plus modern electrical functions that no other wiring harness could get him.

Jason Mulligan of Street Trucks Magazine just finished a great two-part article talking about the truck and showing off some of its details.  You can see read these two articles at these links.

SEMA- Mobile Electronics: Vehicle Electrical Systems

Yes, SEMA is rapidly approaching.  If you're going to be attending the event, here is a seminar that we'd strongly recommend.

Our team here at ISIS Power has known Tony Candela for many years.  He is the author of two bedrock books about automotive wiring and electrical system.  You can see past posts on these books at these links.  Here's more information on his first bookThis link will take you to information on his second

As an authority on all things related to automotive aftermarket wiring, Tony will be giving a presentation at the 2013 SEMA show titled "Mobile Electronics: Vehicle Electrical Systems-Building a Solid Foundation to Ensure Peak Performance".  You can get more information on this seminar by visiting SEMA's website at this link.

Here's more information on his presentation:

"Presenter Tony Candela is one of the most knowledgeable and respected technical experts on the topic of vehicle electrical systems, particularly debunking myths about how components use voltage and current to perform electrical work. Often in muscle cars, hot rods and many newer ‘computer controlled’ charging systems, the lacking element of successfully adding or modifying the vehicle’s electronics is understanding how these items work together in the first place. Tony will help you take the opportunity to optimize charging, drivability and overall vehicle safety using very simple concepts and practices he demonstrates during this exciting session with live demonstrations. "

You can learn more about Tony, his first two books and his up coming book on Carb to EFI at his website by visiting www.candela-sales.com

Be sure to check out his seminar at the 2013 SEMA show.

Mounting the rear POWERCELL

Check out the next video in Allan's install series showing him wiring his SL-C with our ISIS Power system.

In this video, he shows mounting the rear POWERCELL.  This is located on the rear fire wall, behind the passenger's head.  You can see how simple and easy wiring this car can be.  All of the wires are pre-terminated and labeled for easy connections.

The rear POWERCELL in the SL-C kit is powering the ECU, the starter solenoid, the fuel pump, the turn signals, the brake lights and the clutch for the air-conditioning compressor.  There are 4 extra, open outputs on this rear POWERCELL that can be used for other things that you want to add to the rear of the car.

Allan does a great job of walking you through each wire in the harness.  He is very detailed.

Check out the rest of his videos on YouTube.  He has created a comprehensive video series showing every step of building the Superlite SL-C.

If you have any questions related to wiring your car with our ISIS Power system, please give us a call at (847) 232-1991 or email us at sales@isispower.com.  Check out www.isispower.com for more info.

Front Cells in SL-C Build

Here's the next video in Allan U's install series showing him wiring his Superlite Coupe with the ISIS Power system that comes standard with the car.

In this installation, he shows where he mounted his MASTERCELL and front POWERCELL.  He also shows you how well the harnesses are labeled and how simple it is to wire this car.  He will also show you how he routed his CAN harness through the car.  Check it out.

The ISIS Power system that comes standard with the SL-C has all of the electrical functions in the car pre-wired.  This includes all of the lighting, fans, power for the ECU, starter solenoid and horn.  Additionally, we include all of the wiring necessary to control the hydraulic pump to raise and lower the nose of the car plus the controls for the tilt/telescope mechanism for the steering column.

We'll post more of Allan's videos showing off the ISIS Power system that he installed into his SL-C.

Mega Fuses in the SL-C

Here at ISIS Power, our roots are in automotive circuit protection.  We grew up designing products that protect modules and wiring harnesses from short circuits and other over voltage events that happen in cars.  When you buy one of our ISIS Power kits, you get a complete wiring system that includes all of the fusing that you need to safely and properly wire your car.

Fundamentally, fuses protect wires.  If a wire in your car gets accidentally shorted to ground, you want the fuse to be the weakest link in the chain.  The fuse should open before the wire overheats and causes other damage.

One of the most important things that you get with our kits are the primary fuses that protect the power feeds that go to the POWERCELLs.  Depending on your kit you may get a set of Mega fuses and holders or you may get a set of JCASE fuses and holders.

Check out the next video in Allan U's series showing how he wired his Superlite Cars SL-C using the custom ISIS Power kit that is included with the car.  In this video, he shows off his Mega fuse installation.

Allan has a ton of other videos that walk through the entire process of building his SL-C, including his ISIS Power install.  Check them out on YouTube of keep watching here for more videos and explanation.

Revved Automotive Concepts

Here is another stunning example of one of our customers' cars.

Sean Sawyer and his team at Revved Automotive Concepts just finished a 2,200 mile road trip in a 1970 Chevelle that they built for one of their customers. This road trip was the culmination of the most intensive build that they had done as a shop; not only integrating cutting edge technology, but pushing the envelope with interior styling and under hood fabrication. This vehicle truly belongs on the SEMA show floor but it is fully capable for the road.

This owner's first vehicle was a 1970 Chevelle convertible that he regretted parting with many years ago.  When the opportunity to purchase this "fully restored, custom built" version of his beloved vehicle came up for sale online he jumped at the opportunity.  Unfortunately, within a week of receiving the Chevelle, he realized that it wasn't the high dollar resto-mod it had been portrayed as.  The supposedly fresh 454 big block provided lack luster performance, the steering was loose and clunky, the restomod interior was uninspiring, and overall the vehicle didn't feel sorted.  His search for a shop capable of bringing the vehicle up to his standards brought him to the Revved Automotive Concepts website.  After several phone calls discussing the direction of the project the vehicle was shipped to them.

Sean and his team had their work cut out for them.  They knew they had a ton of mechanical issues to work through but they were in for a surprise when they started digging behind the dash.  Electrically, this car was a basket case.  Here’s a great example of what they found.

They knew that they wanted the best for the car, so Sean turned to our ISIS Power team to replace the aging wiring harness.  They wired the Chevelle with our 3-Cell Kit, inMOTION, inLINK, inVIRONMENT for the Vintage Air Gen-IV and our inTOUCH MAX touch screen.  inTOUCH MAX becomes the command center for the car.  Most all of the electrical functions are controlled from the screen, including all of the controls for the heating and air-conditioning.  This eliminates all of the clutter of switches on the dash, keeping the look clean.

Sean put a lot of planning into the locations of the MASTERCELL and POWERCELLs in the car.  This allowed him to dramatically reduce the total amount of wiring in the car.  Here you can see the dash under construction.  You can see the inTOUCH MAX screen and the MASTERCELL behind the glove box area.

Here you can see the rear POWERCELL, mounted in the trunk.  This is powering the brake lights, turn signals, parking lights, fuel pump and audio in the back of the car.  Since the POWERCELL is located in the trunk, all of the runs of wire are short and easy to manage.

Here you can see the front POWERCELL, mounted in the front, right corner of the car.  The POWERCELLs are rated for environments up to 125 C so they can easily be installed under the hood.

Here you can see the finished product of the dash.  With our inTOUCH MAX screen, there is no clutter.

The finished product is an elegant and clean car.  Sean’s customer has the quality and functionality that he envisioned in his Chevelle.

You can learn more about this build and see more pictures at Sean's website by clicking here.  You can also contact him directly at ssawyer@revvedac.com

Small Business- Big Game

We are all about building a brand.  Since we started the ISIS Power business in 2008, our goal has been to let our customers simplify the way that they wire their vehicles.  Whether you're building a hot-rod, a race car, an armored vehicle or a bus, our ISIS Power products can reduce the size, weight and complexity of the wire harnesses.  At the same time, we add diagnostic and trouble shooting functions to help wire the vehicle faster and quickly solve problems on the road.  Lastly, we give all of our customers functionality that no other system can offer.

To help push our brand building, we've entered Intuit's Small Business, Big Game contest.  This gives our ISIS Power business a shot at winning a commercial spot at Superbowl XLVII to be aired on February 3rd, 2014.  This would put our business up in front of the world.

Here's what we need from all of our loyal blog readers... vote for us.  The game is simple.  The company who gets the most votes wins.  You can go to our company page by clicking this link here.

You can vote once per day for a company.  Visit our company page on the Intuit website daily and vote.  Your help will get us to the Big Game.

Thank you very much,

The ISIS Power Team.

Repeat ISIS Customer

We get a lot of repeat customers.  Once a guy wires his car with our ISIS Power system, he never goes back to a traditional wiring harness.  Joe M. is a great example.  You have seen his handiwork before.  We had his Ferrari P4 in our booth at the 2010 SEMA show.  That was a spectacular example of simplicity and elegance in the wiring.

Joe approached us in mid-2012, ready to wire another.  He was doing a complete restoration to a 1967 Camaro and he wanted to wire it again using our ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System.  This car is a little more involved than the Ferrari.  He wanted our inTOUCH MAX touch screen in the dash.  He wanted to control everything from the screen including his lights, the ignition, the starter, his windows and his heat & A/C.  This car is wired with our 3-Cell Kit.  He added inMOTION for his windows and locks plus inVIRONMENT to control his Vintage Air Gen-IV.  Lastly, they wired their gauge cluster using our inDASH harness.  Helped by Mark Mc, the finished product is pretty spectacular.

This Camaro was born as a Bolero Red, 6-Cylinder car with a 3-speed manual transmission. It was built in March 1967 in Van Nuys, California. At some point in its life, it was converted to a 350 C.I. V-8 paired with a 700R4 automatic transmission; likely done sometime in the 80’s. A previous owner had painted it white with a backyard-quality paint job during which no one bothered to remove the trim, windows, or bumpers. When Joe bought it, it was completely disassembled and stripped of its paint. All the parts acquired with it were stuffed into the body shell. Thankfully most of the sheet metal was solid and required little rust repair, but it had been hit in the rear necessitating the replacement of a quarter panel, rear taillight panel, and the rear valance panel. The hood was also replaced with a Goodmark cowl hood.

Here are some more details on the build:

  • Lexus Ultrasonic Blue Mica Paint sprayed by Lee Webb
  • Corbeau Sport front seats
  • Custom-sewn cover for rear bench seat to match fronts
  • GM 5.7L LS1 Engine (dyno’d at 430 flywheel horsepower)
  • Tremec TR-6060 6-speed transmission
  • C5 Corvette front control arms, sway bars and front brakes
  • Detroit Speed & Engineering steering rack
  • Strange Engineering single-adjustable coilover shocks, front and rear
  • Art Morrison Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension w/adjustable panhard bar
  • Shaved dash switches
  • A/C Ducts frenched into steel dash
  • Custom sheetmetal transmission tunnel
  • Custom sheetmetal dash center section for Stereo/Nav and inTouch Max
  • Smoothed firewall
  • Custom TIG-welded stainless steel exhaust with Borla ProXS mufflers
  • Vintage Air Gen IV HVAC controlled by ISIS inTouch Max
  • Large Griffin aluminum radiator mounted behind stock core support with widened opening
  • Shaved drop rails
  • Shaved emblems
  • CPP 7” Dual-diaphragm brake booster
  • Build time: Approximately 2,000 hours
Here is a great shot of the dash.  You can see our inTOUCH MAX screen below the stereo.  The other thing that you will notice is that there are no other switches in the car.  Everything is controlled from our touch screen.

The front POWERCELL is mounted in the front, left corner of the car.  This makes it very easy to see and very accessible.  These cells are sealed and rated for under hood temperature.

The MASTERCELL is mounted right behind the shifter.  They fabricated a clever cover that conceals the MASTERCELL but still makes it accessible if necessary.

With our inDASH harness, the wiring for the gauge cluster is clean and very neat.

They mounted the rear POWERCELL and the inMOTION cell on a custom panel in the trunk.

The overall car is great.  It performs, it looks awesome and the paint pops.  On top of that, the wiring is simple, clean and neat.  Congratulations to Joe and Mark on a tremendous build.

Keep an eye on this car.  You will be seeing it again.

Westfield Wired with ISIS Power

One of our customers just sent us these great pictures of the Westfield XTR2 that he just wired with our ISIS Power system.  This is a very impressive race car that is fully street legal in The Netherlands.  He wanted this car to be light and fast on the track.  At the same time he had to have all of the basic functions of headlights, brake lights, high-beams and turn signals.  Our ISIS Power system gave him all of these features.

The car is powered with a Hayabusa engine, tuned to 230 hp, driven through a 6-speed constant mesh sequential gear box.  All in, it weighs about 900 pounds and can hit 0 to 60 times in about 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 165 mph.

Our customer wired this car with our standard 3-Cell Kit and an extra POWERCELL.  His MASTERCELL is located behind the dash on the left side.  The front POWERCELL also under the dash on the right side while the other two POWERCELLs are located in the rear of the car.  One of the rear POWERCELLs is controlling his ECU, fuel pumps electronic shifter, water pump and starter.  The other rear POWERCELL is controlling the rear lights.

The finished package for our customer is a simple, clean and light-weight wiring harness that he could easily customize to his unique application.  Here are some pictures of his install.

Thanks to Harry B. for sharing these pictures with us.  Congratulations on an amazing car.  Our entire team at ISIS Power is proud to be a part of your project.

GTM 370 Comes Alive

Congratulations to Doug M. for starting his Factory Five GTM for the first time with our ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System.

Doug is wiring his GTM using our 3-Cell Kit, inMOTION, inDASH MAX, inVIRONMENT, inRESERVE and our inTOUCH MAX screen.  He has complete control of all of the car functions, including his heat and A/C, through the touch screen in his dash.

He has a great blog that details every aspect of building his car, including a lot of details on installing our ISIS Power products.  You can see his blog here.     Here are some highlights from his blog.

Here you can see where he has mounted his Mega fuse holders and his inRESERVE solenoid.

Here you can see how he mounted his MASTERCELL. He is using the mounting plates designed by Shace Vacek at VRaptor.

Here is his front POWERCELL

And his rear POWERCELL.

Here is the custom bezel he made to hold his inTOUCH MAX screen on the dash. Very well done.

Here's a quick video of one of the first starts of his GTM using our ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System.

And one more video showing off his screen and bezel in a little more detail.

Congratulations to Doug on hitting this big milestone in his build.

Behold the TEC9 Camaro

We get to see a lot of unique cars. Our ISIS Power system has been used to wire everything including armored vehicles, hot rods, utility trucks, resto-mods, buses, race cars and limousines. The TEC9, built by Mitch Henderson Designs is a great example of what ISIS can do for your vehicle.
We first hooked up with Rob Wechsler and Mitch Henderson a while ago. They had a great vision and a plan for this car. They wanted a one-of-a-kind Camaro that stood out, looked good and could perform. No trailer queen here. At the same time, the car had to be functional and do all the things that a new car does. This meant it had to have all the modern conveniences of heat & A/C, lighting control, iPad interfaces and a great stereo system. Our ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System gave them the ability to wire the TEC9 easily plus add all of these features.
They debuted the car at the 2012 SEMA Show in the Jet-Performance booth. Here's a great video that Kevin Oeste from V8TV shot highlighting the car.

In the car, they're using a Keisler Transmissions T56 Magnum, Don Hardy Race Engines LS7, RideTech Double Adjustable Shockwaves & E3 Controller, Dynatech Driveshaft, One off Bonspeed Wheels, Pirelli Tires, Kicker Sound, Dupont Paint, Vintage Air Serpentine System, Flaming River Custom Steering Rack, Willwood brakes, Precision-Metalcraft Intake, a custom tune by Taylor Simms of Dallas Performance, and Pfadt Suspension Components.
The car was designed by Mitch Henderson, he worked with Dupont and created an awesome color combination, and then hit up Brad Fanshaw with Bonspeed Wheels to create these one-off wheels. The fabricators at Mitch Henderson Designs then took his rendering and brought it to life with a complete custom chassis, narrowed and channeled to accept the 19-20 tire combination and plant the 720hp LS to the ground.
To control all of the electrical stuff in the car, they wired it with our ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System. They have a 3-Cell Kit with inMOITON, inTOUCH Mobile and an extra POWERCELL. They mounted an iPad in the dash to control all of the systems in the car, including the Vintage Air for heat and A/C.

Rob did a great job of wiring and looming all of the harnesses in the car. Here's a shot of the mount that he made for the inMOTION Cell and one of the POWERCELLs plus the Mega fuse holders.

Here's a shot of the MASTERCELL, inMOTION Cell and one of the POWERCELLs mounted behind the dash.

The guys had the car at the Good-Guys event in Nashville a few weeks ago and walked away with a Bobby Alloway Builder's Choice Award. In addition to looking great, they showed that the car could perform on the track.

A great job to Rob, Mitch and their entire team. Click here to get more information on Mitch Henderson Designs.
