Luis Ochoa's FFR Roadster Install...

We love it when our customers get creative...

Luis Ochoa has been an ISIS Power customer since the summer of 2009.  He has been painstakingly building a Factory Five Racing Roadster.  As are most kit cars, Luis' roadster has some unique features that we have never seen before.

The one that blew us away was his solution to the turn-signal stalk.  He wanted the quick-release steering wheel, which most guys do.  At the same time, he didn't want a toggle switch on the dash for his turn-signals, he wanted a stalk.  The column that Factory Five gives you with the roadster kit doesn't lend itself well for a stalk and you really can't get the quick-release steering wheel with any of the aftermarket column manufacturers.

Luis came up with something really creative.  He mounted a simple momentary DPDT toggle switch behind the dash, and mounted a turn-signal stalk on it.  That way he has the stalk, where it needs to be, separate from the column.  Check this out...

He is using our Self-Canceling Turn-Signals and our alternating-headlight function on his stalk.

The self-canceling turn-signals work this way.  You connect a momentary switch to inputs for the left and right turn signals.  When you close the momentary switch, the turn-signal blinks for 10 seconds then shuts off.  Let's say you're sitting at a stop light waiting to make a turn.  If you foot is on the brake, the turn-signal will continue to blink until you take your foot off of the pedal, then the timer will start to shut off the signal.

Here's how the alternating headlight works.  The headlights turn on when you turn on the switch.  You connect a momentary switch to the alternating headlight input on the MASTERCELL.  If the headlights are on and you press the button, the headlights turn off and the high-beams turn on.  Pressing the button again, turns off the high-beams and turns on the low-beams.  If you press the button with the headlights off, the high-beams turn on so that you can flash to pass.

Luis made this great video showing how both of these functions work.

Thanks to Luis for letting us share this.

The ISIS inTOUCH Mobile App is Live on iTunes!!!!!!

We've made it throught he process of getting our new ISIS inTOUCH Mobile App on the Apple iTunes Site.

Imagine this... you walk up to your car, pull out your iPhone, press a button on the screen to disable your car's security.  Another press of the button turns on your head lights.  One more press pops your door.  No keys at all.

If you have the ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System installed in your car and you add our new inTOUCH Mobile to it, this is all a reality.  inTOUCH Mobile can add that unique touch to your hot-rod, resto-mod, kit car or Pro-Touring car.

Since we brought ISIS to the market in 2008, we have launched a string of revolutionary products to help our customers wire and control the electrical functions in their car.  inTOUCH Mobile takes this to a whole new level.  Adding our inTOUCH Mobile Wi-Fi module, downloading our app and using your Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, you now have wireless control of your car through a hand-held touch screen.

The first time you run the app to set up the system, you have to enter a secure password.  That protects your car to keep other devices from accessing your system.  The app gives you control of your lighting, security, locks, windows and axillary functions.

You can learn more about inTOUCH Mobile by clicking hereThis link will take you to the guide that shows you how to install the Wi-Fi module into your existing MASTERCELL.  Finally, this link will take you to the instruction manual for inTOUCH Mobile.

You can see the app on the iTunes site and learn more about downloading it at this link

If you order your 2 or 3-Cell Kit with  inTOUCH Mobile, it will come pre-installed from the factory.  You can easily add inTOUCH Mobile to an existing system.  Contact ISIS Power Technical Support for more information.

Watch for the Android version of inTOUCH Mobile to be released soon.

Battery Tutorials and Isolators...

Someone just posted a great question on the ISIS Power forum on our website.  He asked how to connect ISIS into a dual battery system using a battery isolator.  This is a great question that raises a very important point about battery management.

We spend a lot of time educating our customers on good practice with batteries.  Remember that they are perishable commodities.  They need to be cared for and fed properly to last.  Simple things like keeping them charged properly will get you years of dependable life out of them.

The question on the forum raises an important safety and reliability issue.  Lots of guys will add a second battery (or more than that) to a car because of their current load.  Connecting these batteries without a battery isolator can actually shorten the life of the batteries and can be unsafe.

Sure Power is one of several companies that make battery isolators for safe management of multiple batteries in an electrical system.  They published a great primer on batteries, charging systems and safe system management.  It is a very simple read that is very informative.  Check it out at this link

inTOUCH MAX is another revolutionary product from the team at ISIS Power.  It gives you a powerful touch screen interface to control your ISIS system.  All of the switches on the dash can be replaced with a large 7" touch screen.  You can learn more about it at this link to our products page

The new installation guide gives you more details about mounting the screen, how the screens work and how you can use the advanced tools to diagnose your electrical system.

Check it out to lean more about how the ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System can change the way you wire your car.

Updated ISIS inMOTION Manual Available at www.isispower.com...

We spend a lot of time listening to our customers.  Your feedback is very important to us.  We learn a lot about how to make the ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System better, simpler and more valuable to you.

One of the areas where we are most critical is in our literature.  We know that the instructions can make or break an install job so we do everything that we can to keep them informative but simple.  Your feedback goes directly into making our manuals better.

We just posted a new version of the manual for the inMOTION Motor Controller.  You asked for better illustrations, clearer definitions of the connector locations and a simpler description for the training process.  We incorporated these requests plus more in the new manual.

inMOTION is a revolutionary addition to the ISIS Power family of products.  It gives you complete control of anything that needs to be reversed.  Wiring windows, locks, solenoids and actuators becomes very easy plus you get much more control than you could have with a simple relay.

You can check out the updated manual for inMOTION here

MCR Unveils their Project 99 Camaro wired with ISIS...

Dubbed the "Coolest Camaro in the World" by Car Craft magazine, Muscle Car Restorations debuted their super-secret Project 99.

This is their 99-tricks car.  They built it to look and feel like the original 1969 Z28 Camaro but with 99 subtle modern touches.  Some of these tricks include aluminum body panels, LED lighting, modified suspension components and the ISIS Intelligent Multiplex System.

John Balow and his team wired the car with our standard 3-Cell Kit, inLINK and inMOTION.  Of the 99 tricks, we take of about 10 of them including express down on the windows, security through inLINK, theatre dimming of the interior lights, soft-starting of the headlights and delay shut-off on the headlights.  We also conributed to the 438 pounds that MCR shaved off of the weight of the original car by eliminating lots of wire.

You can see more about the car at Muscle Car Restorations' website by clicking this link.  If you're a Car Craft subscriber, look for details on the Project 99 car in the April 2011 edition.  Or watch for the full article to hit the newsstands over the next few weeks.

Keep watching future editions of Car Craft for more details on the ISIS Power system that MCR installed in the car.

Snow Day at ISIS Power...

Hello Folks,

We're digging out from the dumping of snow that hit Chicago over the past few days.  We shut the offices down early Tuesday afternoon so that everyone could get on the roads early to make it home safely.  Even after I left at 3:15, it still took me over 3 hours to make my 17 mile commute.

No one was in the office yesterday so please be patient as we go through he voice mails that came in while we were out of the office.

We have a limited crew in today.  There are just a few of us in on the front-office side, no one from production.  We're doing what we can to keep up on getting orders out the door but we're at a standstill until UPS and FedEx can make some needed deliveries here.  I don't know if that is going to happen today.

This is what I saw when I made it to the office today.

This was the scene from the front of the building.

We dug a path inside and we're getting to work.  Today is going to be a challenge as we catch up but we should be back in full force tomorrow.

Jay
